More
than double the attendees of the Dawn Services hundreds
turned out for the 9:00am service, this is the most people I have
seen at our ANZAC day services & considering our towns population
back in 1996 was around 3,800 to a now 10,000 strong it's possibly
the record number of people to attend in history.
Hundreds
of people have attended both Anzac Day Memorial Services at Sterling
Park, Boyne Island. Even the Kookaburra's turned
on their version of the National Anthem in respect for our fallen.....
Street Parade Video
The Parade moves down to Sterling
Park Boyne Island
...at
5:25am there was no parking
left, cars were on the footpaths as hundreds of residents & our service
men & women in the still darkness of a slightly crisp & dewy
wednesday morning on the 25th April 2007, joined in the Dawn Service
at Sterling Park Boyne Island.
The commencement of the wreath
laying was performed by BSL General Manager, Brian Cooper followed
by many others who remained nameless only due to the dark of early
dawn.... thank you. ... it was amazing as the service concluded with
the playing of the British Anthem
Dawn Service -
5.30am Sterling Park
"God Save the Queen" which was in absolute silence, then following
this the Australian Anthem was played, amazingly, on-key, joined in the
Australian Kookaburra who added their unique tune of respect for our diggers,
then again, what appeared to be on-key, they faded out in perfect synchronisation
to the ending of the anthem. I couldn't help but feel this whole land
was in absolute appreciation, love & respect for our fallen.
This is the biggest Dawn service I have seen at Boyne Island since
moving here on April 9th 1996, thank you residents for your display
of respect, we should be proud as a community & it's obvious by
this mornings attendance how thankful we are to be Australian & for
those so very brave who sacrificed all, so that we can stand safely
upon our own soils & realise
our dreams.
